Chocolate Week… surely that has to be my favourite food themed week in the year! Returning for the 12th consecutive year, Chocolate Week celebrates the world of fine chocolate from the 10th to the 16th October. With chocolate on the brain (and I mean more than any average week) I decided to round-up my favourite chocolate brands and products so you can all see chocolate I’m snacking on and using in my cooking. I’ve popped my favourite brands into four categories:
- Best for quirky flavours- Willie’s Cacoa: Ranging from smooth dark chocolate with luxurious berry notes to intense milk chocolate with a hint of caramel, and a creamy white chocolate bejewelled with raspberries, you’ll melt into a world of adventure with every bite. These little squares of joy look and taste amazing- you can feel the quality as it melts on your tongue. I love the different flavours as well.2. Best for innocent snacking- Divine Chocolate: Divine Chocolate is the only UK chocolate company that is 100% Fairtrade certified and also co-owned by Kuapa Kokoo, a co-operative of smallholder cocoa farmers in Ghana who grow every bean going into Divine’s bars. Kuapa Kokoo take great pride in Divine, and together own 44% of the company. Co-ownership means the farmers receive a share of the profits they help to create and greater control of their industry, which means you get to enjoy delicious chocolate, without feeling guilty.
3. Best for indulgent baking- Monty Bojangles: I discovered Monty Bojangles last year, and they have been a firm favourite since. They’re delicious for eating by themselves, but I find they add a hidden luxuriousness to my cooking. They come in lots of different flavours and I use them in anything from hot chocolate to chocolate mousse. Follow the links to check out the recipes.
4. Best for gifting- Lily O’Brien dessert collection: Lily O’Brien’s chocolates are perfect for gifting to loved ones and look really high quality. I also love the products that come prewrapped. Their dessert collection is great as it doesn’t just include your standard truffles, but varying flavours which really do taste like your favourite desserts.
